WidgetBucks are different from your tradition contextual ads that most bloggers use. WidgetBucks display actually produces for customers to purchase. WidgetBucks are a great alternative to those bloggers that find that contextual ads just don’t work on their blogs. WidgetBucks currently offer publishers a range of different product categories such as video games, home and garden, etc. WidgetBucks offers publishers three forms on earning money pay per click, cost per thousand impressions, and a referral program where you will earn 5% of the earnings of anyone that you refer to WidgetBucks for 12 full months. Not a bad referral program if the individuals that you refer do well. WidgetBucks can also be displayed with all other ad networks and WidgetBucks does not currently have a limit on how many ads you can display. They use to give publishers a $25 sign up bonus, but have done away with it as of January 15, 2008. There is currently a $50 minimum payout and they offer payment by check or paypal.

If you find the CPM ads served by WidgetBucks a bit naff, I’ve put together a half-baked script to show something else to non-US/Canada visitors.
Basically it uses the browser language settings of your visitors to select either WidgetBucks or an alternate ad (of your choice) that you’ve targetted specifically for non-US/Canada visitors. It won’t catch all of them (as some people have the wrong language settings) but it’ll significantly reduce the number of CPM impressions and hopefully raise revenue.
Not perfect, but better than nothing.
