For most bloggers getting a high number of unique pages views each month is not an easy thing to do. Most bloggers will rely solely on search engines to get traffic to their blogs. However, it can take months or even years to get high rankings on search engines and for some we may never be able to get high search rankings on the most popular keywords that we would like to. There are lots of ways for bloggers to get targeted traffic to their blogs with out have to rely on organic search results, however the alternative ways cost money. For most bloggers the only costs that they are are their hosting cost and the time that they send developing and maintaining their blogs. Some bloggers may turn to ad networks such as Google Adwords, Yahoo Search Engine marketing, and Microsoft Adcenter to gain traffic to their blogs. The problem with using these forms of advertising to gain traffic to your blogs is that you have to decide how you are going to off set the cost of your advertising with the revenue that you earn from the ads on your blog. Which means that you have to establish the ratio between how much you are paying per click or per 1000 impression and how much you are earning per click with the ads on your blog. This is not an impossible task simply take the average revenue per click that you receive from the ads on your blog and then decide how much of a percentage you would like to make. Do not forget to factor in how many of the visitors to your blog are not going to generate any revenue for you or how many visitors are not going to be clicking on your ads. This is simply a trial and error process and your probably not going to get it right the first time, but remember that it can be done and is a great alternative to organic search results.
